HOME INVASION: On Oct. 7 at 11:43 a.m., officers responded to the 10000 block of Tallahassee Place in Waldorf for a home invasion involving two groups of young adults. When officers arrived, two suspects had already fled the house. A witness indicated one of the victims, who may have been armed with a knife, chased after the suspects. As a precaution, North Point High School was placed in a lock down status while officers and K-9 teams searched the area. Theodore G. Davis Middle School and William A. Diggs Elementary School were placed on shelter-in-place status for a short time. Officers quickly learned the victims knew one of the suspects and officers were able to locate the suspect at a residence about a mile away. That subject was taken into custody along with another person who was with him. At this time, investigators say the event was not a random act and the victims were intentionally targeted. Detectives are sorting through information and are working on establishing a motive. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Charles County Sheriff’s Office (301) 932-2222.
